Techtron Engineering is a leading provider of environmental services serving homeowners, businesses, and government agencies with the highest level of quality in industrial hygiene, laboratory, and safety services. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mobile Lab Technician specializing in asbestos, mold, and lead testing. As a Mobile Lab Technician, you will be responsible for traveling within a prescribed geography to collect samples and conduct testing for various restoration companies, abatement companies, homeowners, and insurance companies. Your primary goal will be to gather accurate data and generate comprehensive reports to aid in the identification and management of asbestos, mold, and lead hazards. This is an important role in ensuring the safety and compliance of building environments and supporting the mitigation efforts of our clients.
Position Responsibilities:
Travel to designated locations within the prescribed geography to obtain samples for asbestos, mold, and lead testing. The territory will be within the Greater Tampa Bay region.
Follow established protocols and guidelines to collect samples using appropriate equipment and tools.
Perform on-site analysis of collected samples using approved laboratory methods and equipment, including, but not limited to, Polarized Light Microscopy, Light Microscopy, and XRF Analysis
Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of buildings to identify the presence of asbestos, mold, and lead.
Document and record all relevant information regarding sample collection, testing procedures, and observations made during inspections.
Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to protect oneself and others during sample collection and testing activities.
Accurately analyze and interpret test results and data to determine the presence, type, and extent of asbestos, mold, and lead contamination.
Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, including observations, test results, and recommendations for further action, and deliver them to clients within established timelines.
Collaborate effectively with restoration companies, abatement companies, and insurance companies to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and address any concerns or questions.
Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to asbestos, mold, and lead testing, and incorporate them into daily work activities.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment regularly to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Assist in maintaining inventory of sampling and testing supplies and equipment and recommend purchases as needed.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of environmental testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, chemistry, biology, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in asbestos, mold, and lead testing, such as NIOSH 582, ACAC CIEC, and/or EPA AHERA certification are a strong plus, however we can provide training for candidates getting certifications if needed.
- Upon hiring, position will require 4 weeks of offsite in-person training in Anoka, Minnesota, expenses paid.
- Proven experience in asbestos, mold, and lead testing, preferably in a field or laboratory setting. Any lab experience is a big benefit, whether in those disciplines, or in others.
- Experience with microscopy is preferred. Familiarity with industry regulations and guidelines, includingOSHA, EPA, and state-specific requirements related to asbestos, mold, and lead testing.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to understand and follow complex procedures. Solid analyticaland problem-solving skills to interpret test results accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey detailed information to clients and stakeholders. Strong technical writing skills are highly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while adhering to project timelines and priorities.
- Comfortable with regular travel within the prescribed geography and flexibility in work hours as needed.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and the ability to work in potentially hazardous environments.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
