- Dental Assistant Supervisor

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with the Dental Director and Associate Dental Director in providing leadership, guidance, and coaching of dental assistant staff as it pertains to quality assessment and improvement. Responsible for the supervision and training and development of dental assistant staff. Perform four handed dentistry, explain treatment plans and procedures to patients. Maintain sterilization of the clinic and inventory of clinic supplies. Order supplies and proper equipment maintenance, take radiographs and perform expanded duties according to certification, per the Rules of the Idaho State Board of Dentistry. Maintain infection control policies and procedures. Exemplifies TRHS Corporate Culture Standards while performing assigned duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an approved dental assistant school.
Expanded functions certification.
Dental Assistant Certified (Dental Assistant National Board DANB)
At least 3 years experience as a dental assistant.
At least 2 years experience training and supervising multiple dental assistants.
Considerable manual dexterity to pass instruments to dentist, sufficient mobility to perform assigned essential duties and the willingness and ability to perform all dental assisting duties as described in the Idaho State Board of Dentistry Dental Assistant Practice (see hyperlink under General Responsibilities) and including radiographs and the use of nitrous oxide.
Knowledge and training in general dental assisting duties, along with, endodontic, oral surgery, crown and bridge and prosthetic dentistry.
Knowledge of dental terminology.
Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to work with the public and have good communication skills.
Ability to work well with the public and co-workers
Good communication skills.
Willingness to strive for excellence in the dental office setting.
Willing and able to carry equipment weighing approximately 40 pounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Lead dental assistant experience in a public health dental clinic or group practice setting.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
